Dear ORC,

Have e-mailed Sam about this (and a few others) who couldn't make it. Apologies for late notice.

An art and architecture collective from London is requesting a speaker interested in discussing art and architecture as social and political action. Date is 23rd April, starting at 7pm.

They're looking for someone with an academic background to discuss spaces in the city and how privatisation is making legal protest so impossible. At least, that's my take.

Please let me know if anyone would be up for this. I'm also looking separately into the second part of their request (squatted space). The Elphant and Castle squat was evicted last week, and the one in Arnos Grove might be too small and/or used only for domestic purposes. If anyone has another suggestion, please let me know.

Cheers,

Tina

Hi there
thank you so much for your prompt response
This is a research project which has taken 10,000 voices from people across
the architecture profession and ordinary citizens about the image and role
of the architect. There was alot of responses about why architects are not
more socially driven and how can they develop a practice where they can
become critically engaged in the city and ACT.

An academic talk would be great as the other speakers will be talking from
a more experience perspective.

This session will have a panel discussion
The following speakers have confirmed
Ben Tunsal - Right to the city
Teresa Hoskin - World social forum/ links with Occupy
Transition Heathrow
and hopefully you guys
We are expecting an audience between 30-60
The talks will be 20mins each speaker and when all speakers are done the
panel discussion
we host these informal debate and discussion session regularly as you see
below

However the above is part of another platform which is called 'The open
charter' agency
I look forward to hearing from you

I also wondered since the topic is urban activism if we would be able to
host the session in your space in elephant and castle as it would be
appropriate. If not dont worry and we will host it at our space, i just
thought to bring our network out to other spaces which are appropriate to
the talk would be great

Look forward to hearing from you
