Hi,

Looking to cut some shapes/stencils from thick cardboard, actually Daley-Rowney graduate mountboard, and wondering if using the laser cutter is something safe and practical?

If it is practical to cut mountboard with the laser cutter, are there any suggested/recommended power levels and cautions/warnings around doing so?

If not practical, is there anything at rLab that might be used?

Thanks in advance,

Luke

You can definitely cut mountboard. Not sure of the precise settings, make some test cuts to find out.

Mark

Works fine with mountboard, I use it a lot for stuff.

I would recommend starting at say: 40mms and 75 / 65 power.

You don't want too much power as it can burn the edges and look rubbish.

Excellent, thanks for the suggested settings, went with 70 power and got brill result first time, and after some experimentation: not a competition entry

Now thinking about greeting card fold out back support :)

Have fun,

Luke
