to Reading Hackspace
Hi All.
Several people have expressed an interest in learning about micro
controllers, particularly the Arduino board. If enough people are
interested, I'm happy to run some classes on it at the hackspace.
Due to the wide range of skill sets, I'm considering running 2
classes, a beginners and an advanced class.
The beginners class will cover the basics of making the Arduino go and
writing basic programs for it. It will assume no micro controller or
programming experience and will focus mainly on using the basic,
inbuilt functions.
The advanced class. This will cover things like library creation and
use, assembly commands, external programmers, embedded ICs Ethernet
etc.
3 questions I need answers to though.
- How many people are interested, and at which level?
- Would people prefer a weekday or a weekend meet?
- Would people like me to sort out ordering hardware or sort it
individually?
Hardware wise, you would need an Arduino board, and a computer to
program it, as the minimum. I would also recommend a prototyping
shield as well. If people want extra modules or components I'm happy
to source them, as well as show people how to use them in the reliant
sessions.
Cost wise, I'm happy to run it off my own back. I would recommend non-
hackspace members make a donation to the hackspace though. £5 is
generally considered a reasonable amount, though it is totally
voluntary.
If anyone feels they can help out as a teacher, let me know as well.
