Scaling in RDWorks

Before I mess up a cut again does anyone know what settings are needed to import DXF into RDWorks while maintaining scale?

I've designed something in Inkscape using MM as the unit, I exported as a DXF specifying MM too but when I import into RDWorks the sizes are smaller.

I'm sure one of the bits of software is making an assumption somewhere but I'm not sure which!

Any tips would be very gratefully received.

Thanks,

Keegan

Seems if I select all my objects I can adjust the transform to scale to the correct size.  If I include a square of a known size in the design I can double check that way for now. 😊

I have had a problem in the past of inkscape auto scaling to fit on an A4 page, but I think that is only on import from DXF, or it may have been on an older version of inkscape.

Inkscape is a nightmare for scaling exported DXF files. The best way of dealing with this is take a note of how big the entire drawing is in Inkscape, and the resize the DXF in RDworks to match (remembering to turn on the scaling ratio lock).

Aye, just need to remember to add a 10mm square or something as a reference and it looks like it'll do the trick. 😊

By the way, could I take you up on the offer of the matte grey sheet you mentioned please Tony?

Thanks,

Keegan

The 10mm square is overkill. If you simply note down one of the dimensions for the whole drawing in Inkscape etc, and then use that to scale the drawing in RDworks to the same dimension.

Simples!

Keegan, I will be at the space tonight for 3D Thursdays so I can get out what I have and you can choose. The Grey is A3 x 5mm thick and was originally £17 inc VAT. I have however cut 2 small shaped from it.

I also been having a nightmare with Inkscape lately, could this be related to the new build 0.92.1 ?? 0.91 used to work great or at least with no size issue that I am experiencing now.
few sheets of wasted material during Friday as resizing didn't work great.. looking at an alternative to Inkscape now ...
