Folks,

Thanks for all your input! Looks like we will have a sizable crowd (8ish
folks) for rust!

So, here's the details:

- We'll be using the O'Reilly "Programming Rust" book by Blandy &
Orendorff. I have a copy and I think it is more detailed than The Rust
Programming Language and will lead to some good discussion. We will
supplement it with bits from TRPL, but those are available online.

I suggest you order the book soon -- it's about $30, so not too bad.

- We'll be doing reading from CLRS as well -- if you want to follow
along with the algorithms bits, pick up a copy. If it's too pricey,
apparently you can ask in #monads and a pdf copy will materialize on
your computer.

- At this point, any other material will be available online or I will
scan it and post a PDF. (I have access to a nice book scanner)

- We're planning to cover the entire book + some content on algorithms
and their analysis. We'll probably talk about runtime analysis and a bit
about invariants and correctness too. You don't have to study material
that isn't interesting to you, though.

- Meetings will happen every 2 weeks. I think this gives us each enough
time to fit the reading in but not so long in between meetings that we
start to forget what's going on.

- Plan for meetings to take 90 minutes. Given the number of us present,
I anticipate we'll cover about 1 chapter a meeting. I'm going to aim to
keep things closer to 60 minutes but we will see how it works out in
practice.

- Fill out the when2meet here for when you are available. Times are in
the central timezone, so if you live on the west coast please make sure
to do the appropriate conversion!

- Let's start the first week of June so that everyone has enough time to
acquire books and arrange schedules (and so that I can plan things out a
bit in advance).
