I am very pleased to announce that we now have a poet laureate for the week, Bruce Taylor (No End of Strangeness). You will find out more about Bruce in a few days when I post the final program and introductions.
The idea of a poet laureate for RASI derived from a recent collaboration with Arc Poetry on their newly-released science issue.
Bob Bean (RASI 2009) contributed a stunning photo essay based from his work at CSTM as our artist-in-residence in 2010; I wrote a piece on a "coincidence mixer" from Inuvik accompanied by Bob's photos. Bruce Taylor contributed a poem on Anton Van Leeuwenhoek and microscopy.
Several of this year's participants have neither science nor history of science backgrounds. We have people with backgrounds in material culture, medicine, English, history, art, history of technology, education, communications and architecture. The usual RASI mix-up.
