I am collecting a list of people interested in upgrading their MAYS F
license to the E license. This is a 16 hour course given in 2 or more
often 4 sessions. It requires F license, a pre-test, and homework
prior to the first session. Details on MAYS site.

There are classes offered this summer but they are > 1 hr. drive from
us which makes it harder to fit into schedules and it conflicts with
summer coaching.

In order to give the course we would need (16) coaches. I'm just in
the exploratory phase right now--dates/times/location still TBD.
Probably shoot for (2) weekend days in July or early August. Some
towns are doing it 5:30-9:30 PM in (4) sessions.

Could you please help spread the word and drop me an e-mail or reply
here if you are interested? Thanks for the help.

I am very interested in the E course.
I would be available on Monday and Wednesday evenings (Tuesday and Thursday
evenings are out, Sundays are also out for me).
I will be out of town until July 22.

I saw that; I'm thinking about the G that same week. Can I do F right after G? I might be looking for a carpool; it's a bit of a hike.

That sounds good to me. Are you sure they did away with the 6-month-with-F rule?

Yes, I remembered our conversation so I double checked it.

I continue to try and setup the E Course in Reading. It is dragging
as I wait for RUSC to supply the contact information of the coaches.
There is no simple database of coaches and their license status with
contact info. MAYS has a database of who took their courses and RUSC
has a database of coaches. The RUSC database does not differentiate
between active coaches and inactive coaches. MAYS database doesn't
have e-mail info. So, Dave B. is crossing them for me.

If I had to guess it will either be fall/winter or next year at this
point. I will do my best to get it as soon as possible.

I think Stoneham is close enough and that starts 7/24. Maybe we should jump in on that. I thnk everyone who would be ready in the fall is ready now.

John,

Yes, I am taking the Stoneham E License course.

The RUSC list has enough F coaches that we should be able to offer E
License multiple times. I continue to try and set it up for the
convenience of Reading coaches.

Ideally, wouldn't we just have G, F, E,... offered in town on some
rotation that doesn't interfere with the seasons? We need lots of
coaches so it seems like we can do the math and figure out how many in
to G license produce how many at E. We have n teams that need E
coaches, m teams that need F, k teams that need G, etc. (can you tell
I'm an engineer?)

Regards,

Brian

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself a little, but I'd even love to see a D course offered around here every once in a while, maybe every other year or so. Looking at the MYS calendar, the only D course offered the remainder of this year is out in Lancaster at the state HQ. There was a D course offered in Beverly in late spring '09 that a couple of RUSC coaches participated in, but in general they rarely seem to be scheduled in this area.

I hear you--I went to Bridgewater.

If we can get critical mass (say 10 seriously interested coaches) I'll
volunteer to work on it. Once we have names the rest is relatively
doable.

True, but I bet the number of coaches willing to do each course is inversely proportional to the number of hours each course is. And with fewer interested they need to increase the geographic area to capture enough students for a full class. So to have all the courses offered for Reading, they would need to somehow create the need among coaches, either by making it a requirement or strongly selling the benefits, or recognizing those with the higher licenses (can you tell I am a marketing guy?)

The D course in Beverly last year was packed. Given the number of coaches in eastern MA, I'm sure there are a number who would rather go to a D course at or inside the 128 belt than out in Lancaster.

Couldn't agree more.  After G, creating the demand may not be that hard.  We got 4 or 5 just by contacting the adult soccer groups.  We only need 10 or 12 to do the course.

Finished my E Course license last weekend in Stoneham. We had
classroom instruction, made presentations, played a lot of soccer and
led coaching sessions. If you think 12 year olds are bad, imagine a
bunch of coaches. Only a few injuries in the class. Lots of fun,
highly recommended if you can find the time.

Would love to. Wish I could have made that class. I think November is the next local one.
