ห้องสมุด Reading Room จัดซีรีย์เสวนาในหัวข้อห้องสมุดและการเก็บข้อมูล
(archive) โดยในแต่ละครั้งจะเชิญวิทยากรจากสาขาต่างๆ
มาแสดงความคิดเห็นในแง่มุมที่หลากหลาย ทั้งในด้านสังคมศาสตร์ ศิลปะ
สถาปัตยกรรม วรรณกรรม ดนตรี ภาพยนตร์ ประวัติศาสตร์ และปรัชญา
เพื่อเป็นการสร้างบทสนทนาและแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ระหว่างสาขาต่างๆ
โดยในครั้งนี้จะเป็นการเสวนาในสาขาปรัชญาและวรรณกรรม
อาจารย์เกษม เพ็ญภินันท์ (ภาควิชาปรัชญา คณะอักษรศาสตร์
จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย) จะกล่าวถึงปรัชญาและความเป็นมาของ archive;
การคัดสรรข้อมูลความรู้ ซึ่งจะนำไปสู่การจัดการชุดความรู้ ระเบียน
และระบบต่างๆ; และประวัติความเป็นมาของหนังสือ และการอ่าน
วิวัฒนาการของการพิมพ์ และการเผยแพร่และกระจายหนังสืออย่างมีระบบ
โดยสัมพันธ์เกี่ยวข้องไปกับการควบคุมความรู้ อำนาจ และความทรงจำ
อาจารย์สุรเดช โชติอุดมพันธ์ (ภาควิชาวรรณคดีเปรียบเทียบ คณะอักษรศาสตร์
จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย) จะกล่าวถึงประวัติศาสตร์และปรัชญาของห้องสมุด
ทั้งในเชิงพื้นที่ เชิงทฤษฎี และเชิงอภิปรัชญา;
ความรู้อันมหาศาลจากหนังสือซึ่งสามารถนำไปสู่
ความทุกข์ทรมานจากความโลภและความต้องการหาความรู้อย่างไม่มีที่สิ้นสุดของมนุษย์เอง
โดยจะเห็นตัวอย่างได้จากหนังสือของ Borges, Eco, Flaubert ฯลฯ

The Reading Room, Silom 19
The Reading Room presents a talk series based on the interpretation of
the idea of archive and library from diverse perspective of scholars
and distinguished guests. The series covers the fields of art, social
science, architecture, literature, music, film, history and
philosophy. This third edition sees the dialogue between philosophy
and literature.
Kasem Phenpinant (Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts,
Chulalongkorn University) takes on philosophy and background of
archive; the selection of knowledge that leads to organized body of
records, data, and documents; and consequently, history of books and
reading, printing evolution, and circulation of books, in relation to
the control of knowledge, power, and memory.
Suradech Chotiudompant (Department of Comparative Literature, Faculty
of Arts, Chulalongkorn University) presents history and philosophy of
library, in terms of physical, theoretical and metaphysical
dimensions; the encyclopedic knowledge with its all-inclusiveness that
results in man's anguished suffering from insatiable greed for
knowledge, relevant in literary works of Borges, Eco, Flaubert, etc.
NOTE: The talk will be conducted in Thai.
