Madhav Chavan after 15 years of hard and selfless work has been rewarded by the Prime Minister of India.
The Co-founder and CEO of leading educational NGO, Pratham received the CNN-IBN Indian of the year-2009 award for Public Service here on 21 December.
Prime Minister Dr.Man Mohan Singh presented the coveted award to Dr.Chavan.
Dr.Singh lauded the initiative and patted the Pratham Boss for his innovative concept of a “societal mission” for universal primary education.

Dr.Chavan requested the Prime Minister to unveil the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) and Dr.Singh readily agreed for the same.
Pratham was set up as an initiative led by UNICEF in 1994.
In the Public Service category stalwarts like Anna Hazare, Dr.Devi Shetty and leading NGOs like Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR),
Ecosphere and Naaz Foundation were in the fray.
Though contest was tough, how ever Pratham came out successful in the competition, said an organizer.
And Jury Members of the CNN-IBN Team found Pratham suitable for Public Service Award for their outstanding contribution in the field of universal literacy and education amongst children.
With Pratham receiving the award, leading educational activist Ashok Paikray congratulated the team and expressed his happiness over the success.
