Subject: State level Consultation on Children’s Right to Free and
Compulsory Education Act 2009 and Alliance building
Dear Friends,
You might be aware that the Children’s Right to Free and Compulsory
Education Act 2009 has received presidential assent and was notified
as law on 3rd of September 2009. In connection with this Gezette
notification has been made to implement the act from the1st of April
2010. As a result the Government of Orissa will also have state rules
for the implementation of the Act
In spite of many flaws, it is a historic act that will definitely have
an impact if it is properly implemented. However, unless sustained
effort to create awareness in people of this constitutional provision
is made, they will not be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
In relation to this a one day consultation to be organized on
28/03/2010 at DDCE Conference Hall, Utkal University, Vani Vihar,
Bhubaneswar(Near University Law College).
It would be appreciated if you would kindly attend the meeting and
share your valuable suggestions for working out strategies for proper
implementation of the Act.
