Hi!

I am using the 64-bit binary of Ready 0.8 on Windows 10. Importing an image into the McCabe.vti is extremely hit or miss for me. Some images load correctly sometimes, some images seem to never load correctly, but usually an image imports as all black (and, more rarely, as all white)...but the very same file can import as black, white or correctly at different times. Have tried jpg, png and bmp and tried different editors to write the image, and even just grabbed random 256x256 images from the web but cannot find a consistently (or even occasionally!) good workflow.

Any hints what I might be doing wrong?

Many Thanks!
Chad

Hi all, dear Chad,

yes the version 0.8 has an error but use the version 0.72 which goes https://github.com/GollyGang/ready/releases
The best is the version 0.5 on Windows 7.8, 10:) More information later!

Hi All,

Is there still an issue with importing images? I can import meshes just fine, but am failing with images.

I'd like to import a greyscale image into a Gray-Scott Pearson pattern with a 2D image pattern type.

I've tried with 0.80, 0.72, and 0.50 with PNGs and BMPs. The import runs but doesn't seem to include the image information.

What should I see after the image import if it has worked?

Ok, found the fix on my own. If you are making the greyscale bitmap with Gimp, do NOT write the colour space information. The setting for this is under "Compatibility Options" in the "Export Image as BMP" dialogue. Default is to write that information, which results in a greyscale that Ready has problems with.

I'm using the parameter_modulation_demo.vti and importing the bitmap into chemical c.

Nice work figuring that out Jez! I guess the image loader is a bit particular about the format of the imported image?.
