Hey,

I was hoping we would be able to get support for the new wpa81 profile in the remotion.Linq NuGet package.

To target and build against this profile you would need to use the VS2013 Update 2 RC, so you may only want to make it a pre-release package (which would be fine for us). As an alternative we suspect the current assembly will likely just work on wpa81 so you could possibly just hack the NuGet package to include this profile (haven't actually tested yet though). http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2014/04/17/universal-windows-apps-nuget-sdk-references-sqlite.aspx

Hello Rowan!

I've just read about the push for wpa81 support in nuget on the .NET Blog, so it's already on my mind. Thing is, I don't have the RC installed, so I can't test the APIs. Also, just changing the nuget package won't affect the assembly-level TargetFramework attributes, which means I would actually need to have the Update 2 RC installed on my production system and that's not something I feel comfortable with.

So, here's what I can offer: I'll set up a test-system with the Update 2 installed and if it's enough to just patch the Reference Assemblies folder on my production system and/or to manipulate the nuget folder, I'll do that. Otherwise, Windows Phone 8.1 will need to wait till RTM. Either way, this is going to take till into next week.

Best regards, Michael

Hey Michael,

The TargetFramework attribute just records what it was built against, but doesn't block it being used on other profiles. We tried out just renaming the folder in the NuGet package and it works for us (we have our product working with re-linq on wpa81 apps using the modified package).

If we are able to get something this week that would be great. We want to demo our new stack working on wpa81 at TechEd next week and this is the one missing dependency for wpa81 support.

Many Thanks,
Rowan

Hi Rowan!

I've just realized that I missed the response you made shortly before my announcement post, it got kind of burried in my Outlook Web Access mail thread. My bad about that. Belated thanks on the details. On the plus side, I've now got a dedicated test VM set up on which I can target future profile updates, too, once they show up on the blogosphere :)

So cool you're going to demo the stack on TechEd. Is your talk going to be recorded?

Best regards, Michael

Hey Michael,

Many thanks, I'm using it on a Universal App and the moment and it works great!

Yes, the session will be recorded. It only includes a quick overview of the new stack, so I won't be delving down into implementation details (such as relinq) in this talk.

Hi Rowan!

That's great to hear!

That's okay, it's more a general 'that's cool' thing :)

Best regards, Michael
