Just got back from Playacar......

.....and reality sucks! lol
We had a great trip and met some great people!!!
A few minor issues did occur:
1. We tried to make all of our dinner reservations on Sunday for the
week. We were only allowed to make 4 reservations and told we had to
come back on Thursday to make the remaining 2. We went back on
Thursday and were told that there was no availablity. When I advised
that we were told to come back on Thursday, we were told that we were
told the wrong info. That said, I strongly suggest you email Guest
Services before you leave to ensure you get your reservations.
2. None of our 5 rooms received our alcohol or welcome package that
we normally get with no problem. We inquired once to no avail but
left it alone after that because we really didnt need any more
alcohol. However, another member friend requested hers daily and
received it on her last day. Again, we were told to send an email
prior to departure to ensure this doesnt happen again.
3. There were non-members in the Members Only section of the beach
that were continually asked by Security to leave but they refused.
Unfortunately there were two days in a row that my family could not
enjoy that section of the beach because there were no loungers and
their family was still permitted to stay put even after several
attempts of asking them to leave AND after one of their guests
threatened to punch the Security guard in the face. Personally, I
think Sandos is lacking in this area and need to step it up a notch.
Members have paid alot of money and that section should be ours
solely. I recommend black bracelets ONLY so there is no confusion.
4. Even though I had 5 1BR haciendas reserved and confirmed the week
before I left, somehow my husband and I (the actual owners) got stuck
in a studio hacienda. They were, however, able to move us the next
day.
Minor issues but definately inconvenient when you have to spend a good
amount of time trying to sort these things out while on vacation. All
in all, it was the best trip and weather to date. We can't wait to go
back in September and stay in the Ocean Front suites.

Sorry to hear of the inconveniences and thanks for the suggestion
regarding guest services. Indeed I share your thoughts, we did pay for
a membership whose benefits are superior to those who are not. To hear
a security guard was threatened does not do well with me and it
shouldn't with anyone. I for one would send an email to the GM
regarding this situation as a concerned member/owner. Perhaps they
need this escalated to ensure it gets the right attention.
I'm looking forward to a week with family and friends and will put
your suggestion regarding amenities and reservations to good use.

Hello Bill
I read you are going to be in Caracul Sandos for one day . If you are staying in Plyacar can you go to Caracul and use your Elite black bands and have all-inclusive there? Or do you have to buy a pass for the day?

Welcome back. That really sucks about the people in our area. I might sound spoiled but we paid for those areas!!! And in the past security has done a good job keeping people out, I have even saw Gabriel (sp) asking people to leave. I know we were lied to from the start but when I'm down there I just try to have a great trip, but that would make me crazy that security didn't do anything about that. I hope everything else was good and you enjoyed your trip.

they came and asked/told the people to leave. It was effective. I almost
knocked the lady to the ground when she tried to move my towel and take my
chair while we were at lunch.. Not good..OOPS.. I wish I had,,LOl

USA Transfers has worked well for us, too. Taxi back from Playacar is a
bit cheaper, but you can't get a (reasonable?) taxi from the airport to
Playacar.
You can also arrange for USA Transfers through
http://www.entertainment-plus.net/. Their other tours are reasonable, too.

Indeed will be going for one day. May go for a second. we'll see how
it goes. You can go back and forth countless times without issues or
cost. Our black bands are recognized immediately.

Haven't used USA transfers however they seem to be reliable. I have
always used Cancun Shuttle and the service has been top notch. $115 R/
T for private transfers up to 8 people. They have refreshments in the
shuttle though we have made it tradition to stop at the 7-eleven for a
quick couple of beers to enjoy as we ride down to Playacar. The
drivers are eager to oblige.

Sharon, about 2 yrs ago this man would reserve 4 couches in the RE section w towels around 7 am when i was already there go to to the pool and have 4 lounge chairs as well! !!like clockwork he came back to the beach at 3pm w wife and 2 kids ( one in a stroller!!!) and sit on couch loungers till 5...
One morning this couple we met came down 7:15 and noooo lounge chairs or couches available...we all knew about this couple and folded the towels up and put it nicely on the table...3 pm comes around and the man who left towels at 7 am was pissed and a fight broke out!!! I got the guard and explained in my broken Spanish what happened...I think that incident changed the rules...now if u leave towels and no other sign of life like beach bag book etc after an hr towels are automatically folded up by staff that watches beach activities...they can tell if u went in the ocean or lunch etc...
Wish I could have seen u in fighting mode throwing towels and lounge chairs lol...

family got up very early apparently and reserved their seats and
either went back to bed or to breakfast and came back hrs later.
Their belongings were never removed by security. Security just kept
apologizing to us and said basically there was nothing that could be
done. In fact, I threatened to remove their items if they were there
on my last day. It just so happened that they werent; however, that
didnt stop the family from coming in shortly after us and instead of
sitting in the other empty loungers, guess where they sat? Right
behind us to taunt us. So we, the members, moved AGAIN! Hence, my
suggestion that only black bracelets should be permitted in that
section so there is no confusion.

Ya it was priceless..LOL Tamara from RE (she is awesome) handled the "intruders" professionally but they got the message. They kept lying to the security guards saying they had bought a RE package and that RE had not changed their wrist bands.. BULLSHIT LOL

I agree should have members ONLY sec black bracelets...gold bracelet upgrades should be a diff section like blue bands have!
Maybe we have to get out our MEMBERS ONLY jackets from yesteryear lol...remember those?

Not so fast............That was not the case with us. This particular
family got up very early apparently and reserved their seats and
either went back to bed or to breakfast and came back hrs later.
Their belongings were never removed by security. Security just kept
apologizing to us and said basically there was nothing that could be
done. In fact, I threatened to remove their items if they were there
on my last day. It just so happened that they werent; however, that
didnt stop the family from coming in shortly after us and instead of
sitting in the other empty loungers, guess where they sat? Right
behind us to taunt us. So we, the members, moved AGAIN! Hence, my
suggestion that only black bracelets should be permitted in that
section so there is no confusion.

Yeah sounds like bulls#it cause the first thing they do is pop the cork and give u a black band!

now that is funny - because the first time we went to sandos
we also bought the package and asked at the sales meeting if the bracelets could
get changed and they said that it was against policy --so being the quiet types
we are we spent the rest of the trip with our blue bracelets and dreamed of
going back and getting the black bracelets. and it was great when we were
able to - we never would have intruded!!
