Has anyone used RCI points for discounts of off airfare in the past?
If so, I would like to know if you were able to borrow from your next
year's use balance towards airfare?

We use points from another timeshare, you can bank one year and borrow from the next so you could have 3 years worth of points. I think the only catch is you have to pay next years fees to use points from next year.
That is how it works with our other one, we never signed up for the ones we got from sandos. Hope this helps.

I actually tried to use my RCI points towards airfare when we first
had our RCI membership and they told me there is a maximum amount of
points you can apply towards airfare so it wouldn't have done us any
good to use banked points or borrow from the next year. Maybe they
have changed it since though. You should call them to see what your
options are. I found that I could definitely get cheaper airfare
without going through RCI and using my points.
