Fellow RDRC members.
Several years back we looked at Proxi/Absentee voting because many members, due to job or personal issues,  prevented them to attend the meetings to vote on club proposals. We decided at that time that it would be too hard to do this with the resources we had at the time and the idea was tabled.

Now that we have such a great Web Master and the best RC website in the country maybe we should look into what it would take to maybe use the "members only" area for members to cast their vote on club proposals.

Many members who cannot attend the monthly meeting wish they had a way to participate in the decision process.

Think about it and send me your comments.
Thanks

Great Idea, John. This would help with a number of issues, such as,
notification before a by-law changing vote, more participation when
making significant changes that affect the entire club and I think
more accountability and justification for changes.

I understand from the results of this past meeting that a change in
dues has been suggested. I think a committee should be formed to
examine the need for a dues increase and after a thorough evaluation
the committee could report out a recommendation to the entire body of
the club.

Count on my support,

Steve

Here is the rule on voting as stated in the bi-law.
· Written, secret ballots will be used. A quorum comprises 10% of the
paid up membership of the club. Proxy votes are not permitted.

Right we will need to have a written vote to change the rules if/when we
find software that we cannot easily break into. So far neither Dave nor I
have found anything that we cannot break easily.
We will continue looking but for this vote we need to have it done as per
the existing rules.

Just because a ballot is electronic does not mean that it is not written.
The bylaws do not specify hand written. We would just have to ensure that a
persons vote is secret.

I think it's certainly doable. Dave L and I are scouring the web to look for
something that would allow for this securely. We need to bring it to a
meeting and see what needs to be done to put it in place, if that's what
folks want. There's nothing that we can't do as a group, if it's what folks
want :-)

Well,,,
If we work at it enough and allow all decision making to take place online, we could eliminate to need to even have meetings!  ;)  We can have a virtual club!

I fly on the virtual field (RealFlight) on rainy days!  :o)  There is one virtual member walking around the shed...but he's kinda quiet.
