Has anyone dealt with Apples in app purchase rules and allowing users
to sign up for rdio from within your iOS app?

What is the best way to deal with this? I realize there is no need to
create an in app purchase, but will Apple be expecting that as we'd be
tossing them out to Rdio's browser based sign up form . Is that
correct?

This is not based on personal experience but it seems to me that the
link to Rdio is to create an account that is, at least initially, free
so I would not expect Apple to have objections to this.

I would also like to hear an official response to this query though
before investing time to create an app.

Cheers
Oisin

From what I can tell sending users to any signup page in Rdio simply prompts them to download the app - there is no way to take advantage of the affiliate program (at least that I can find - though I'd be happy to be corrected on this!).  At present it doesn't appear that users can join Rdio via Safari for mobile devices.

You are correct, the affiliate program does not work when the user has
to sign-up via the in-app purchase. Unfortunately we have to force all
sign-ups on iOS through the iTunes store or run the risk of Apple
rejecting Rdio applications.

We are investigating new ways to credit the referring developer, I
don't have an ETA yet.

Hi Devin,

Would it be possible to get an update on Rdio's progress on this?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

We're talking with a partner that says could integrate LinkShare with
sign ups on the Rdio mobile apps. We're still figuring out if the
claim is true.
