Hello,

I'm very new to rdio, but would like it to be a base for my music blog http://musicglaze.com at the moment I'm using soundcloud to deal with audio, but I believe that rdio can provide more benefits. However, I have my website set up in a way that I don't want/need to use api, All I need is a url linking to a song file (preferably .mp3). So for example, right now I would use something like:

http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/80407752/stream?client_id=7a17129ba9cd5fff34f847e3539829b7

This basically includes my app id and song id, so I can than use as src for my player. Everything like flash fallback etc.. is made by me, therefore I would only want rdio to be a source of audio for my blog, of course it will be credited in appropriate manner. So, could anyone tell me if it is possible to get such links? If so what needs to be done on my part in order to gather such links. Also, as far as I understood, do users have to be actually logged into their rdio account's in order to listen to the music?

Thanks ;)

Access to the whole track, in any format, is not allowed. Rdio depends
on accurate playback reporting. The SDKs provided by Rdio handle all
of the playback reporting automatically. This saves a lot of work for
developers and ensures Rdio has accurate data.

To use Rdio in your site, you will need to use an official SDK. You

Let me just add that with the beta JS API, I think you shouldn't have too much trouble integrating with your current player UI: it handles play, pause, updating the position in the track, knowing how long the track is, and it uses HTML5 where possible and falls back to Flash when needed.

Yes, the users will be logged to their rdio accounts and their plays will show in their history, activity, etc.

Devin, are there plans to provide an API that will work outside of a browser, like a published REST interface or a C library or something along those lines?

At this time, we don't have a plan for either.
