Dear Patrick,
thanks for the grat work on rdiffweb.
May I ask / suggest a feature:
it's nice that it's possible to set a retention period for each repository.
But as the deletion of files "older than..." is done by a cron-job there is the risk if no update to a repository is done the cron-job will delete the files in the repository sooner or later.
So some check box like "delete only if there was a backup job today" would prevent to loose a repository if there is something going wrong with the backup.

yours sincerly
JD

Jello Jane Doe,

Thank you very much for your kind words. If you enjoy Rdiffweb, you might also find Minarca Data Backup (https://minarca.org) interesting, as it combines Rdiffweb with a Desktop Agent to facilitate the backup process.

Regarding your feature request, as of today, Rdiffweb automatically removes older tasks every day. For example, if you set it to 30 days and the last backup was today (19 Jan), it will delete everything older than 30 days (19 Dec). However, if your last backup occurred on 15 Jan, it will remove data older than (15 Dec). Therefore, the current behavior seems to align with the feature you are seeking.
