Hello Patrik,

Thanks for this great piece of software. I'm trying to figure out how I should be able to delete certain files/folders from backups (referring to Allow users to delete a file from backup using rdiff-backup-delete (#128) · Issues · ikus-soft / Rdiffweb · GitLab)

It seems that in my own instances, as well as the demos provided, there are only options to delete all history or entire repositories? Not individual files?

Thanks,
Bob

Hello Bob,

Thank you for reaching out to the rdiffweb Google Group regarding your issue!

I understand your concern, and I agree that the user interface might not make this process immediately clear. Here’s how you can delete the history of a file or folder:

  1. Navigate to the location of the file or folder you want to modify. Click on the version menu, then select "Show more...". This will take you to the history view for that file or folder.
  2. From the history view, click "Delete History" to remove the history of the specific file or folder.

Please note that if your backup contains a large history (e.g., more than 250 increments), it may take some time for the changes to be fully reflected so be patient.

Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions!
