Dear RDFLib Community,

Yesterday we published a 7.1.1 release of RDFLib which allows the dropping of the Python Package six as a dependency. This is of great importance to some Linux distributions that package RDFLib.

We also made a 7.1.1 release of OWL-RL. For those of you not familiar with this tool: it's an RDFLib family of tools that implements RDFS & OWL RL forward chain reasoning. It's used by other, more well-known tools such as pySHACL.

If you have never used OWL-RL please give it a go! It can be very handy to implement some of the fairly simple RDF/OWL reasoning on data.

With this release we creep closer to an RDFLib 8.x, as previously indicated on this mailing list which will drop support for Python 3.8, finally drop ConjunctiveGraph (in favour of a modified Dataset class) and tackle parser/serializer APIs.

AN APPEAL: Could any of you reading this who chat about RDF in other channels please indicate that there has been a new release of RDFLib and that a major new release is in the planning? The maintainers are aware that there are many Discord groups, Slack channels, other email lists etc. that not all of us are on!

Thanks,

Nick, Ashley, David & Edmond
