I'm in !
Let's go ahead.
Hi guys,
Time to sleep is over : here is the 3rd kamikaze attack in Cameroon and Chad in 2 days only killing more than 46 people few minutes ago. Follow the hashtag to read what people are currently reporting about https://twitter.com/search?q=%23maroua&src=typd
Why are we, Africans, so lazy sometimes when it comes to work together on our common issues ? Why are we, Africans, so lazy when it comes to act very fast to tackle our common issues ? You can be in your country with no issue today but you never no how tommorow is gonna be for you. Some of us have face such issues in the past with other Africans from other countries were just watching without reacting. THIS MUST STOP AND WE SHOULD TAKE ACTION JUST RIGHT NOW.My last e-mail was a "call to action" that was sent accross the whole continent but only 13 people reacted and joined the group discussion for us to find a way to help with the tools that we master and proposes solutions to sort this EMERGENCY out and help people on the ground.
Please, invite as much Africans as you can and LET'S TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW !--Best Regards / Bien Cordialement.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Cedric ATANGANAComputer Science and AI for Humanoid Robotics - POLYTECH MARSEILLE, FranceEditor at Planete Robots France - Section : Artificial IntelligenceGoogle+ : Google me2015-07-23 10:28 GMT+02:00 cedric Atangana <cedrica...@gmail.com>:TO ALL THE AFRICANS WORLDWIDE

In light of recent terrorist attacks in the North of Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad and Niger, I thought once more about the project Michael and Charlie had designed : "citizens on the frontline." Although you did not get funding for it, at this time, I think you should try to implement it with limited crowdfunded funds . The platform you wanted to build from scratch has worked before in Kenya during their civil unrest : Ushahidi. Please read and YouTube their impact and mechanism.
I met the Co-Founder of the platform in South Africa, as we both sit on the Microsoft 4Afrika board, she told me Ushahidi has decentralized their system, so any programmer/IT pro could see how to adapt It to heir local settings. You can either use their free crowdmap available on their website, or pay $10.000 for their customized map. Since at this point it will take too long to develop the platform from scratch, both options can be explored.
If we crowdfund I can commit personal funds to this, and mobilize some other friends and family members to commit each $100 to $200 to get this platform and tool working. I can also reach out to Juliana (Co-Founder) of Ushahidi to see if we can have a discount or how best to implement this cost free (on the development)
Check out these links please:
1. Wikipedia explanation of Ushahidi : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ushahidi
2. View their services http://www.ushahidi.com/services/
3. Their platform can be adopted to local crisis, with crowd mapping: http://www.ushahidi.com/product/crowdmap/Let's self fund this and get it going.
All the plans and activities we have cannot thrive if there's no peace in our country, and unless we empower citizens in affected areas with the tools and power to share real time information, we will only be receiving the blows.
Please let me know your thoughts on this, and please Michael and Charlie, re-share your project to all cc'd here.
Note that : These are my personal views from my personal account. No institution is speaking through me.
** Also, I've cc'd various techies, and people I know can provide a critical point of view to this idea.
God bless you and your families today,

A famous African proverb says that "When your neighbor's home is burning, haste thee to help him put out the fire of fear that it will attack yours." It is therefore essential that each of us brings his stone has the edifice. Let's crowdfund to build this IT tool that can help saving millions of lives and protect the bright future that I know that each of us is dreaming about for this amazing and AWESOME continent that is called AFRICA.
I created a Google+ community called IT4Africa and I invite all of you to join and suggest ideas for open source projects on how we can contribute to sort such kind of issues out IN THE WHOLE OF AFRICA. Let's STOP waitting assistance, let's work together as a T.E.AM because Together Each Achieve More.
I'm not sure that I covered the world, so, please share to your communities worldwide to spread the word and Join NOW to help how you can, feel free to share your ideas, thought etc.

YeahLamine,I started a small thread on this with various devs across the continent and we drafted this plan :
1) build a website that will crawl all the infos on the web
and display them on a landing page. We choosed Wordpress + material design + Google Cloud platform on PHP to go fast here is the bitbucket repo for everybody to join : (I will create a github one if required) https://bitbucket.org/it4africacommunity/crizis2) Plan and launch a crowdfunding campaign to collect small funding to buy a free green number where people on the affected countries can send free text messages (those who have good connections with mobile operators can help there to negociate the lower prices possible for us to cover all the SMS cost sent by users to our green number)3) add an SMS feature to mass send advices to populations4) collect all the SMS sent and aggregate them with the tweets + all available hashtags and display them on a map for data visualization5) Then we decide what to do next. When can we plan a hangouts guys ? In my side, I'm available at any time

I thank all of you who took small of their time to come and discuss with the others on what we can do for our continent together. This is the short report of what we have said and the next steps in our project to bring our block to the building.
We have been working together for years on cool continental projects and challenges where we had fun etc. Now we are living the difficult part of our history and we have to face it with strenght, comfidence and hand in hand together I believe we can make it.
We have built sub-teams to take the project to the next level, so, please feel free to join one of them to help in your way.
