Hello Everyone,
The topic of Stormwater Runoff probably does not get your heart fluttering. However, if you are interested in improving and protecting our ground and surface water you will want to learn what you can do about this problem. Every single person must take ownership for his or her contribution to the present situation. How we deal with stormwater runoff is one of the most important tools we have for ensuring the safety and usability of our water.
To learn more about this topic, please plan to attend Sustainable Dunn's next program related to the Year of Water 2011 theme.
Randy Eide, Menomonie Public Works Director will speak on "Municipal Stormwater Runoff...What it is and how you can help". He will also show a short video made especially for our area entitled RAIN TO RIVERS.
Steve Zweber and Jacob Pulfer, UW-Stout students will share their research results related to our local Galloway Creek. It has a watershed that drains approximately one-third of the City of Menomonie. You will find the research results very interesting and surprising.
The program will be on Thursday, February 17 at 7:00 PM at UW-Stout, Jarvis Science Bldg. Room 110. Free parking is available on the east side of the building. The program is free and the public is invited. You will learn a lot even if you live outside of the City. Everyone has stormwater runoff.
This event is also sponsored by the Tainter/Menomin Lake Association; the City of Menomonie; and UW-Stout Greensense, Natural Areas Club, and Sustainable Agriculture Education Assoc.
