(Dunn County News 11/4/2007)
The ordinance amendment not allowing nonmetallic mining on
agriculturally-zoned land is expected to be on the county board's
agenda for its annual budget meeting on Nov. 13.
According to Cox, if the county board approves the amendment, the
ordinance's new provisions will not affect the pending application
from Proppant Specialists for a special exception to operate a silica
sand mine on the Darold Lausted property near the Hoffman Hills
Recreation Area.
A public hearing on the Proppant Specialists application is scheduled
before the BOA on Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the
Dunn County Judicial Center.
Plan on attending the November 26th meeting to express your support
for denying the exception that would allow Proppant to develop its
sandmine.
