It appears that Proppant is again attempting to present at the October 18th meeting of the Dunn County Board of Adjustors for permission to establish a non-metallic mining operation near Hoffman Hills State Park.  Recently, Proppant requested to meet with some of the individuals from the Save Our Hills group.  At this meeting Proppant presented what they felt were changes they had made in their proposal that they seem to believe will mitigate the opposition and enable them to proceed with the mining operation. One of the changes includes transporting the mining materials into Rusk instead of Colfax and it is critical that these area residents are aware of the potential changes to their lives.

We need to re-gather our forces, get the word out and be ready to oppose this at the October 18th meeting!! For more information please visit saveourhills.net.

In addition, the Planning Resources and Development Committee will be holding a public hearing on Tuesday, September 25th at 9:00am in the Dunn County Board Room at 800 Wilson Ave.  The hearing will address proposed changes to the county's non-metallic mining ordinance.  These proposed changes include not allowing non-metallic mining as a permitted use in any of the agricultural zoned district. Please attend this hearing and let your concerns be heard.
