This is your personal invitation to The Year of Water, an initiative of Sustainable Dunn and the Tainter-Menomin Lake Improvement Association to educate the public on protecting our lakes, streams, rivers, and groundwater and to create a plan to protect and improve the quality of the Red Cedar Watershed. The effort will begin on Sunday, January 30 from 1:00-5:00 at the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts, 205 Main Street, Menomonie, WI. Please mark your calendar and come as your time permits.

Beginning at 1:00, information and representatives from water-concerned organizations (including the Sierra Club; Dunn County Farm Bureau; Galloway Creek Protection Group; Groundwater Guardians; City of Menomonie among many others) will be available in the Tainter Public Room. At 2:00, the program in the theater will open with a song commissioned for The Year of Water written and performed by local musician Yata. Cheryl Nenn of Milwaukee Riverkeeper and Dan Zerr of the UW-Extension will speak on water quality issues with a question and answer session to follow.

Following the program, attendees are encouraged to socialize and talk with representatives of water-concerned organizations in the Public Room. Refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon by Menomonie Woman’s Club. The event is free and open to the public.

Please join with community members and leaders from across the Red Cedar Watershed in support of on-going efforts and new initiatives to protect our precious water resources.

Joe
