A  message to all to let you know that I started building my 1:8 Polish 7TP light tank. I have a thing with this tank, which is practically a Vickers.
Sizewise, It does not fall into the rules of this club, however I want to try some now systems. This one is going to be a tiny one, yet motorized and RC. The hull of teh model is as wide as teh hull of my Vickers Tankette, so motors can fit in. It is going to be so light that I bet it can run on 12 V, even on 9.6 V angle drills.
All metal construction, no laserjet cut this time. My jigsaw has plenty of Wattage to cut aluminium sheets, and I already have the shapes of the hull.
I do hope the systems can prove useful in scale 1:6. I also do know that this is a light tank, and even in scale 1:6 it wil be hard to make a marker fit inside the turret, however I must confess I cannot resist the '30s and light and Polish tanks with their colorful camouflage schemes.
I will keep you posted.

Chrys

Chrys,
I wish you'd stop building the common tanks that we see so many of
in our hobby ;)

I can't wait to see your project in progress!

That s great Chrys , I know your happiest when you have a tank build going on ,
Why don’t you build something that fits in the rules, that you can fly over here with ,then you can battle with us , I can provide you with batteries / accommodation .
You have two designated tanks already , how heavy and what dimensions is the lightest one ?

Thanks for the invitation Neil,
I somehow doubt I can make the airport customs with the Vickers Tankette.
She's technically airborne. about 60 cms long, 25 kgrs heavy and armed with
Doug's fearful LOPPEM system (the batteries are 18 volt though). I've
thought of having a suitcase built for her on order but then I say, ahhh ,
let's spend teh money on something else, like batteries.

What if she makes the Greek security check but she's trapped in Heathrow and
stays in the UK forever?

You'd have to buy your gas in the UK as well, plus you'd need to give the tank a really good clean up before it would pass customs. It would quite possibly cost a small fortune to fly over too, as I know that in NZ the free baggage limit is 25 kgs, so unless you plan to take no clothes, you'd have to pay the exorbitant overweight baggage fees.

30% of road accidents are caused by drunks, therefor if we banned sober driving, so why is sober driving legal and drunk driving illegal?

That would add a new dimension to the hobby ...
I.m not so sure I'd want to see video footage of the battles!

OK on topic again now:

Good one Chris, I like your build style. Looking forward to see this
one come together!

HAHAHA! Good one MArc! tankers in the nude! In fact you're allowed to a load
of 20- 25 kgr, (a lot more kgrs for overseas flights), I think, and
overweight would cost a euro per kgr, so it is possible to travel and battle
properly (= dressed) without paying tons of money.

Obviously it's a lot cheaper for baggage when you don't have to travel 5000kms to the nearest country.

It's about 7 kg in NZ, but there's a size limit too, so you wouldn't be able to take the tank on board, unless you buy another set of tickets for it, then the tank gets a seat to itself!
