Hi Chris, it was a great time with interesting people and fun topics of discussion.  We all shared our various projects we are working on and bragged about future inspirations.  :)  We talked about the upcoming Spring battle 2012 and were amazed by a walking cyborg.   We ate donuts and pizza and just enjoyed the great company.

Hi Kurt, for sure.  No Super models or stunt doubles here, just straight up RC Combat Tankers.  :)

Thanks for the pictures John. But now you need to write a paragraph for
each explaining what each one is showing :-)

BTW: Doug Conn won the award for most interesting new technology. His
walker actually walks (which is more than I can say for most walkers)
and we're already talking about how Doug should make it bigger, stronger
and able to traverse more than a flat table-top! In fact, as fast as
Doug can solve technical problems, we can come up with more problems for
him to solve :-)

There was just too much action to remember everything Frank.  Next year we'll video tape it.  :)

Thanks for the kind words, Frank. I'm hope to have walker built for RoboFest
this year, but I'm not sure I'll make it.

And thanks for hosting TankFest again. How many years is this ? It was great
fun, as always.

We got to see the latest advances from Cheap Control Systems, John's very
cool new PzKw II, and the HUGE and gorgeous King Tiger. Dr. Paul also did
some surgery on a guest's 21st Century Stuart.

I am The Guest. I was about to post this to
M5Stuartrct...@yahoogroups.com:

Tankers,

Someone on an R2-D2 Yahoo Group cross-posted an invite to the Feb 4,
"Tank Fest 2012" in Annapolis, MD, so I emailed Frank (the POC) to
RSVP or pre-register. With two of my younger kids, my Father-in-Law,
and a Cousin from Texas, we timidly walked into the middle of the
gathering at the "world-famous Tri-Pact Test Facility" about two hours
after the "ever popular Opening Of The Donuts ceremony" in hopes of
witnessing some 1:6 scale carnage.

These gentlemen were gracious hosts, pushing pizza and soda on the
lot of us while clearing their own projects off the bench to
troubleshoot my plastic M5 (with its driveway-induced "Battle
Damage"). Paul used the shop tools to strip her down and identify
both the cracked drivewheel and my 8-Volt battery. Someone grabbed a
hoseclamp for the wheel, screwed everything back in place and loaned
me a 12V's to do a Function Check and Test Fire; between good-natured
jabs that my Stuart wouldn't last 5 minutes against their metal and
wood Goliaths. And, even though a couple guys snickered when I asked
my three-year-old girl to "Please quit chewing on the machinegun" or
"Put the hand-grenades back in the little man's backpack", they took
the time to show us all we could ask about their own tanks to include
what cordless power-tools and electric ride-ons were sacrificed to
drive the lawn cannons. Inspecting their 1:6 scale Working Breed
tanks was fun, even if the conversations underscored why my Toy Poodle
wouldn't navigate the obstacles their tanks bound or crush. One of
their project tanks was almost the size of my couch, and the
difference in detail between my plastic Stu and their tanks built of
plywood and aluminum is a lot less than the gap between my own stock
21st Century toy and the heavily-mod'ed Stuarts that look like R/C
Smithsonian dioramas.

We had to leave shortly after that, due to a Cub Scout “emergency” (we
were asked to scratchbuild six presentation-quality arrows for the
next night’s meeting), but we will gladly visit the Tri-Pact again (if
invited) when the tractors are prowling the battlefields.

Thank you, Gentlemen.

Stu,

The shop was packed for Tank Fest and we didn't get to talk much but
thanks for coming by and bringing your tank. The guys always love to
poke fun at every new vehicle, not just yours, so welcome to the long
line of poke-es.

Not only are you welcome back at any time, but you should plan on
attending our Spring battle (date TBD) which will probably be the
largest r/c tank battle ever held. You'll probably need to leave your
3-yr old daughter at home (we can't really destroy soldiers on the field
if she is putting scarfs and flowers on them), but I know your son (and
probably father-in-law) will enjoy watching and causing some carnage.

Is there by chance a spring battle scheduled for March 24ish or May
12ish, is there? If so there is a small chance I may be able to
attend. And perhaps we could figure out how to get T076 running the
day before so as to officialy enter it into the list of "respectable"
toys.

If given the choice between those two dates, May 12th'ish would work wonderfully.  :)

Who knows, now that I'm back in the states I might be able to attend if I had enough notice.  That would mean I would need to start finishing my tanks....

There won't be a Mid-Atlantic battle on either of those dates. March is
too early in the season (bad weather) and May 12 is Mother's Day
weekend, which is always a no-go. We're currently looking at field
availability for the first two weekend in June (which are the only
weekends that don't conflict with warship dates, holidays and events
already scheduled). We'll announce as soon as the day is set.
