i have noticed that i no longer see the persons email address when anyone post/replies to any subject matter lately, is this some change within googlegroups or....?

Google  changed how they send out the group messages to conform to a new standard supported by all the big email services to help reduce spam. They now rewrite the From name to include the senders name. However, if your mail tool uses the name from your own address book, then you won't see the senders name. In that case you might want to  display the Sender message header.
