Hello all,

I am new to the group and I am starting to gather knowledge and parts to begin my first build.  My background is model trains for 30 years, rc planes for 5 years, then to a Traxxas Slash for one year.  I know want to learn about and build a tank.  What better way to do this than build a 1/6th scale paintball tank.

Is anyone on the list located in or near Kansas City?  Someone I could pick their brain when it comes time to build.

One thing I have decided on for my build is, I would like to do the roller chain track.  Does anyone have any lying around their shop they would like to get rid of?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

Welcome to the hobby.  I'm not sure of anybody in the mid west.  For the roller chain, are you talking 60 series (or smaller) attachment chain?  If so, that stuff is hard to get on small and affordable quantities.  For brain picking, just post your questions here.

Steve, are you still using the GTVe marker you described in your article?  If you are, how is it holding up?  If not, is there a reason why you changed it out?

Thanks,

Chris,

The GTVe marker is no more.  That model had a very week electronic trigger that worked only half the time.  My current tank uses a mechanical marker triggered by a sliding cam powered by a door lock actuator.  The current batch of low cost electronic markers from Spyder (the Fenix line) are a quality product and I've used them in a few projects for FOA.  The Spyder Fenix's are some of the last remaining emarkers that can use CO2 (most higher end markers are air only now).
