There's a good deal on a Timex stop watch I believe with count down and
count up features

Careful it stops at zero.

The one I posted is the best alternative to the Seiko. Works and comes with a guarentee of accuracy. One of our guys tested it against the Seiko and it seems to work the same.

so it would be fine for count up people, like a standard stopwatch

Actually, Gordy, no it doesn't necessarily stop at zero,  Has the options of stopping, starting the countdown over, or continuing in a count up fashion.  All depends on how you set the option.  I have this watch in the 'non-solar' version, and use this feature frequently.  You may still be right in that the watch you specified may be a better option for our use, but I have used this watch in a 'back up' capacity (when someone borrows my Seiko).   As a low-cost alternative to the Seiko, it would be feasible...if you like having your watch on your arm.

Hello,
This is Julie Ealy sending a message to this group of people. Jim has started a small business, vintagesailplaner.com, and I did not want anyone to think he was neglecting them.
On Monday, he was in a very bad car accident. Our 1990 restored Vanagon was destroyed. Because Jim had on a seatbelt, he is alive. The Vanagon turned over several times and Jim's left hand was dragged quite a distance on the concrete on I78. The top of his hand was removed exposing tendons and blood vessels. He has already had two surgeries and tomorrow the physician hopes to do a skin graft. We are praying that it works. That process will take 3 weeks to "heal" then there will be months of therapy, and ultimately tendons will be removed from his foot to replace the missing tendons in his hand. This would allow, with more therapy, the use of all his fingers.
Thank you for your patience. He just spent 3 weeks taking care of me because I broke my right wrist and could not do anything.
We are looking forward to brighter days.

  Julie B. Ealy
