It flies just as good as the slope versions!  Yep a slope ship that had a Turbine dropped in the fuse! For those of you

You'll see what makes a Simitar sooo cool, they really 'grove' a turn...and kind of fast.  Great fun on the slope by the way.  My favorite version is 48", anhedral, with a Battle Star Galactica Viper looking fuse.

Here's the original Simitar  "Saracen" a 72" sailplane version was first published as a construction article in RCM April of 1976 (the first of a series that spans approx 50 published powered variations)...I think you can see Paul's Turbine version passes the test of time and a lof of other jets too ;-).

This is Paul Applebaums, Turbine Simitar at 68".  Balsa sheeted wings, slab balsa fuse too...same as the slope ship. In the end his Simitar may not look like a scale jet, but its a few thousand cheaper and fits in his car without taking it a part!  (The Simitar 540 was first published as a RCM construction article October 1978!)

If anyone would like plans for a Simitar sailplane version contact me off line, I might be able to help with that :-)

Hard to believe this started as a sailplane....take a look!
Here's a link to a Video I did with my Iphone.

I had one that was built by a gent in Ohio that was 100 inch span and powered be a US 41 gas engine.  Fun- Fun..  I should tried it on the slope before I sold it. (smile) Brian

Tom Nagel's slope version with the googly eyes is my personal favorite.  Still flying this season at select Ohio slopes at this writing.
