Been a while since I have seen a post and it looks like once Gordy left, and newsletter stopped that the conversations on this board also quit.

Just checking in to see who is still around.

I’m still here, but no apparent activity on the list.

Well if the list is still active,  one of our members found a Pike Superior in the woods surrounding the IRKS field a few months ago.  The plane has no identification.  We think it was lost during one of the F3B contests or one of the F3J team select events.  This means it has been lost since as far back as 2011.  I have posted a notice on the F3X page of RCgroups which has had 1300 views but so far no joy in finding the owner.  If you have a friend who might have lost this plane,  give them a call as we would like to return it.  Pike sailplanes have their name boldly painted on the wing.  Therefore we know it is a “superior”.  Other details are being kept confidential so the owner can identify it.  This is a lesson to all of us.  If some ID had been on the plane (or more firmly affixed)  it would be already returned!
Best,  Jim

The IRKS field is roughly in the south west corner of I 95 and SR528.  West of Cocoa FL.  The club members come mostly from southern Brevard county.
web is www.irks.org   We are mostly a power club but include control line  and sailplanes.  We have had many sailplane contests on the southern part of the field which has lots of room.  The “Gator F3B” originated here and the F3j team selects were held here (twice??).  There is lots of room to fly but we are surrounded by woods outside of the encircling access road.  Lots of planes have gone down in the trees.  Most have been recovered.  Right now I am getting grumpy because we have had buckets of rain each afternoon which makes the field too wet to fly and drive.  The field is part of an active landfill which helps with maintenance and security. But access is carefully controlled.  We welcome guests but entry procedures must be followed so a member must sign you in.  Website has details.  I am hoping for a good turnout for model aviation day this Saturday when everybody is welcome IF the field dries out!!
Best,  Jim

All,  The slow moving hurricane is driving my wife and I crazy so we are doing some much needed clearing out.  I have all the issues of Sailplane Modeler through the end of 2003 except the first two issues.  Are these back issues worth anything and is anyone interested?  Melbourne Florida is real breezy right now.  We are very thankful that Dorian is out to sea and sparing us the worst stuff!
