'Burma Now: Accessing The Reforms'

An important two-part forum coordinated by The Best Friend and Burma Concern of RCSD-CMU to evaluate and discuss the drastic changes that have occurred in Burma in the past year. Presentations from several notable Burma experts, including Dr.Thein Swe from Payap University, Khin Ohmar of Burma Partnership, and Aung Naing Oo of the Vahu Development Institute, will take place. Thai journalist Supalak Ganjanakhundee of The Nation will offer perspectives on the implications of Burma's reforms for Thailand, and a new short film from Women's League of Burma will also be screened. Discussions on the value of the reforms we have seen thus far, as well as what changes still need to be realized, will follow.
This first part of the "Burma Now" forum series is titled "Political and Economic Landspaces". Part 2, "Ethnic, Environmental, Refugee, and Media Issues" will take place in May.
