Morning Fellow providers,
The Governor will be signing the minimum wage law sometime this week. This means that as of July 1, of next year the minimum wage will be 9.00 an hour and as of January 2016, it will become 10.00 an hour. As residential care providers you know minimum wage is and important factor in our success for things such as overnight pay, on call pay, the split shift differential, and of course some employee wages. In addition, if you have exempt employees who are on salary, their salary must go up to to continue to qualify for exempt status. Historically, every time the minimum wage has increased, the
state has increased funding. Please take a minute to write Terri Delgadillo AND the governors office to remind them of the need to make sure there are increases to cover these increased costs. Attached you will find the letter we've already sent to Both Terri Delgadilo, Director of DDS, and Governor Brown.
