Anyone having problems viewing new channels we are suppose to get
starting 1/1/2012?

We are suppose to get 87 additional channels. I called RCN tech
support and they said I was the only one who called about this.
Others have not called in. They did acknowledged that we are suppose
to see these additional channels, but having problems adding them to
my account.

My husband called them and they added it. But they had no idea what he is talking about, it took forever for the lady to understand.
This should be automatic when the HOA increases the price and not that everyone has to call to get the channels.

Thanks,

Agreed, this should have automatically taken effect and everyone's account updated.  I hadn't gotten around to calling yet even though my wife wanted to check out the Oprah channel.

Maybe the Tech Committee members can run this up RCNs flag pole?

All,

I have been informed by RCN that the agreement between Highland
Village and RCN was signed Friday and that the change in channel
lineup is expected to occur by the end of tomorrow. This change is
just for Highland Village homeowners which adds the full Premiere
Package lineup to their bulk agreement. If you are not able to view
this new content after tomorrow, please give RCN a call. In some
cases, there may be a need to power cycle the cable box in order to
receive the new channels.

I see a list of all premiere channels, but I can’t find a list of the new channels as of Jan 1. Does anyone have that?

What is the difference in the HOA's?  How did Highland Village get it's own arrangement with RCN?  Are other HOA's going to get arrangements?

RCN has separate but similar contracts with the following HOAs:
Highland Village, Tartan Hills Village East, Tartan Hills Village
West, Tartan Hills Village, Dunbarton.

Each contract is a separate agreement between each HOA and RCN. Back
during our Gatehouse days, we also had separate contracts, however
they would never allow a change to the contract unless all 5 HOAs
agreed. This was due to the way the network was managed and
distributed. Making a change to the network at that time affected all
users, so there was not a way for one HOA to have different offerings
from another.

Now that RCN has made upgrades to the network and manages it in a way
that allows more flexibility, changes can be made in one area that
will not affect another area. This allows RCN and the HOAs to
negotiate changes to the bulk agreements per contract. Highland
Village moved forward with adding the Premiere Package to their bulk
agreement as a change to their contract. I am not sure if other HOAs
will decide to do the same.

As of the morning of the 4th, on my HV system, premium HD channels are
tuning without having to power cycle the set top box. There is a
short lag time where the screen 'call RCN for premium' appears but
after 10 seconds or so it goes away, the channel tunes, and subsequent
returns to the channel tune it immediately.
