Hey all,
I built a small free web tool for a problem I kept running into: pasting a module's BOM and then manually looking up every resistor/cap/IC one at a time on Mouser or DigiKey.
How it works:
- Works with both real BOM shapes I found in this ecosystem: the flat "quantity x description" bullet list official kit pages use (like the RC2014 Mini's own page), and a Reference/Qty/Component table (like Small Computer Central's module pages) pasted with tabs or pipes between columns
- Classifies each line (resistor, cap, crystal, IC, diode, transistor, pot, jack, header, switch, socket) and searches both Mouser and DigiKey
- For resistors/caps/crystals it matches by actual value (handles "2k2" notation, exact crystal frequency, electrolytic vs. ceramic hints, etc.)
- For ICs/diodes/transistors it matches by part number
- Everything gets ranked by confidence (exact/possible/unknown) then price, and you get a ready-to-paste list per supplier
Honest limitation: jacks, headers, switches, and IC sockets don't have a reliably searchable value, so those are always shown as "unknown confidence" and just sorted by price — please double check those by hand before ordering.
Tested it against real BOMs (
rc2014.co.uk's own Mini kit page and a Small Computer Central module page) and fixed a couple of real bugs that only showed up with actual data (a resistor-pack's "8 x 10k" count getting mistaken for an 8-ohm value, and a capacitor unit-parsing bug where uppercase units like "100NF" were silently misread as 1000x too large).
It's free, no account needed, no ads, and open source:
https://github.com/Hei0MOrld/rc2014-bom — built this after making similar tools for guitar pedal and Eurorack module BOMs and figured the same idea would be useful here too. Would love feedback, bug reports, or "this BOM format broke it" reports if you try it on your own builds.
