Hi, I have put together from parts a SD Pico 4 and have a few questions.I will use it on a RCBUS Backplane SC701 and understand that the CPU HALT signal must be extended(I believe this to be the case on the SC701) for the SD board to work correctly. I have copied the RomWBW combo image and other files to a 1GB formatted FAT32 SD card as per instructions. I am having trouble understanding what I need to do to the Pico to get this working.
All the instructions I see in the Extreme Kits github site seem to relate to setting up the Pico for the RC2040 mini and no specific mention of what needs to be done for the SD card module for the RC2014. I'm looking at https://github.com/ExtremeElectronics/RC2040 Somewhere I read that if I'd bought the kit the Pico would be supplied preloaded but I had a couple already and all the parts to assemble from scratch.
Am I missing something here?

As I recollect, the SD card on rc2040 is fat formatted, and should be populated with images of each of the rc2014 sd cards, it also has some ini files to configure which SD image to use.

Hi Dave,

The RC2040 and the Pico SD Card Module are different things from ExtElec. You should be looking at this repo; https://github.com/ExtremeElectronics/Pico-SD--IDE-interface--for-Rc2014 When I supply these as a full kit the Pico comes pre-flashed, but if you bought a PCB only, then you'll need to use the .uf2 file in that github to flash your Pico.

You're right that the /HALT signal does need to be connected to the bus. On RC2014 Standard Bus computers, like the RC2014 Mini, this would be via a flying jump lead. On RC2014 Enhanced Bus (And probably RCBus) computers the /HALT signal is in the 2nd row of pins so nothing else needs to be done.

Hopefully that gets you on the right track.

Thanks Spencer. Copied the .uf2 file onto the Pico, also found the RomWBW I was using was different to the one in the Github for the SD card files so updated that, but unfortunately when I boot the RCBus it does not see the SD card.

SOLVED - It was a dodgy SD card. It appears OK in Windows and can format, copy files to it etc but not compatable with the SD - PICO. Funnily enough I got it cheap from China. Will I never learn. :-)
