Hi Guys,
I've made and tested a littleĀ Z80 CPU PLCC44 to DIP40 adaptor, any of you are interested in gerber or KiCad files?

There you go, gerber files below.
Free to use for non commercial purposes. IF commercial, THEN author publish = TRUE :)
Hope this helps. I will eventually publish it on my blog https://mniec.wordpress.com/

I bought a generic plcc44 to dip40 from ali-express a couple of months ago quite cheaply. Cheaper for me in UK than sending gerbers off to JLCPCB, since the ali-express one came with the plcc socket attached and with DIP pins.
What I don't know is whether the generic one would map pins appropriately to match a dip z80.

I bought it to be able to patch up a cpld programmer on a breadboard

Have you done any special pin mapping in yours or have Zilog kept sensible pin layout?

Hi Richard,
Z80 DIP and PLCC (including LQFP package) have different pinout, so 1 to 1 adaptor most likely won't work, depends on pinout of your adaptor.
Adaptors usually have pin 1,17, 28, 40 as NC, however Z80 in PLC package have 6,12,24,25 as NC.

Please out datasheet

I will also be making LQFP package adaptor just for fun. When it comes to PLCC to DIP adaptors, I will panelize them and offer to community for price of postage (about 70p within the UK)

Grab the Z80 datasheet and your multimeter in continuity mode and get buzzing. šŸ™‚
