I thought it might be good to have a library of working ROMs for the RC2014,
so I started a RC2014 ROM Library on Github.

I hope this is useful, and expands quickly.

Enjoy,
Phillip

Thanks Phillip,

Yes, that looks like it will be very useful - Although there is already a ROMs folder under the RC2014 branch; https://github.com/RC2014Z80/RC2014/tree/master/ROMs.  Maybe they should be merged?

Also, did you see my comment about the local characters not being echoed on the Chess, Eliza and Star Trek ROMs a couple of weeks ago?  I'm not sure if the ones you just uploaded are the same ones or if that's been addressed?

Cheers

Spencer

Ops. Sorry. Didn't see that folder.
I'll take down the repository, and use the existing one.

The files are exactly as provided by AA. I didn't notice the lack of local echo as a problem, until you mentioned it.
Potentially because separated local echo (Sent ASCII & Sent HEX) is provided by the MOSerial program that I use for serial terminal.

Cheers, Phillip

Is that repo only for c-compilable stuff?

I took down that repo, as it seemed to duplicate what already existed.
There was a mix of C and ASM.

I have my own repo for my NASCOM Basic ASM things, which could cloned into RC2014 if it was thought worthwhile.

Hey Phillip,
I've just invited you to the official repo:

Please feel free to add whatever you think it's useful for our community :)

No, any valid rom image should be in there. The only caveat is for SD Card images. (I'll be uploading my working SD Card images to the Hardware\SD Memory Dump Module folder soon)

I don't think the contents were a duplicate. At least, not within the RC2014 repo.

Yes, very likely to be worthwhile :)

What we need now is a little ecosystem consisting of:

- web page aggragator to combine HEX, BIN, c source, asm source
- allowing uploads/downloads/cross processing (eg "HEX <--> BIN" )
- lightweight interface for this (json?)
- Port IO based ethernet adapter for the RC2014 (perhaps just an ESP8266!)
- Small downloader/launcher application that connects to the main or local (on your PC) repository, and writes programs to RAM.

So you fire up your RC2014, run the thin web downloader application.  Then you pick the repository to browse (call it a BBS if you want!)  and pick "TinyBasic2".  It retrieves the file, shoves it into RAM, then runs it.

OR

You boot your RC2014 into CP/M, run the thin web downloader... browse the same repository for RC2014 CPM software, it downloads it to SD card (or loads it to RAM), then you can run it later.

seriously though, I keep going back and forth about extending my "lloader" application (which loads ROMS on startup via my SD interface, eventually to kickstart-load the CP/M bios, etc, into a full simple command shell.  Do SD card directory interactions, load files from SD card to run them, integrated diagnostics... kinda like the openfirmware prompt... but at that point, it makes more sense to just work on CP/M instead. ;)  (Except that mine can run from rom.... but then I think that I can do a virtual disk in ROM for a quick CP/M boot... but then I think that.... and i keep running around in circles... some bigger, some smaller, some weird, some stupid and I get nothing done.   I think I need more (or less) coffee..

Don't get me wrong... i'm not complaining at all.  My brain is getting mega exercise thanks to the platform. <3

Dare I mention that Dr Scott Barker has been at it again and now has CP/M running on the RC2014... from floppy disc!

Yes, he's built a floppy interface for our beloved RC2014!

I've seen how he has his SD interfaced, and I want to keep my SD in the FAT format, so I'm trying mine my own way. ;)

missed the floppy drive video!  Watching that now!  :D
