I had another conversation going that doesnt seem to be posting, so I apologize if there winds up being 2 threads going.. It was an older thread that I replied to, so dont know if it got pruned or what.. Anyway..

I finally got a chance to do some more testing on this.  I have an rc2014 pro.  If I hook up just the 5 main boards, CPU, RAM, ROM, Clock, Dual Serial,  i get the press space bar message on my terminal.  If I put the CF board in, with or without a card (I am assuming it would still boot to the press space bar screen no matter card or not) it's like it's locked up.  I dont get the press space bar screen.   It's been a few months, and I dont think I've changed anything else.  I checked the logic chips on the CF board and they tested good, so I'm guessing they are good?   I've looked at all the jumper settings and pretty sure I have everything set properly according to all the build things I've seen.. ANY thoughts would be great on what I may want to check / replace.   Thanks!

It looks like Google had quarantined a couple of your messages, although
I've no idea why. Google is as Google does. I could release them, but
they look pretty much the same as the one that was posted here, so
that'll probably just be confusing for people.

Without a CF card I would also assume you should still get to the the
Press Space Bar message. That does kind of suggest a problem on the CF
module itself.

If you remove all the chips on the CF module (and remove the CF card
too) then it should have absolutely no electrical effect on the rest of
the RC2014. So that definitely *should* get to the Press Space Bar
message.  If it doesn't, then it suggests there is a short somewhere.

If it does get to the Press Space Bar message, then it implies it is one
or more of the chips.  The three chips are all used elsewhere on the
RC2014 Pro, so swapping them on to a working module one by one should
help narrow down which chip is causing the problem.

I don't know if that will provide a definitive remedy, but hopefully it
helps guide you in the right direction.

Cheers

Spencer
