I'm looking at getting a compact RC2014 system that will be fairly portable - but would allow me to plug in both a video card, and the new Quazar SAA sound card (https://2014.samcoupe.com/#saainterface) - so I can have some nice Philips audio to carry about with me. So perhaps something with 2 RC ports.

Any recommendations on a compact machine?

I was also thinking about the very nifty MicroBeast system as one possibility. It does have the built in mini screen, and later support is planned for the video beast graphics expansion, although as a downside it only has 1 rc slot

Thanks in advance

David

Many thanks for the feedback Spencer

Just checking, but does this model have a 64k memory area? If so - it certainly could be an option to consider.

I've also asked on the MicroBeast chat - and it turns out that although the "Beast" only has the 1 port, that the VideoBeast addon would allow a passthrough of the RC2014 port - so allowing me to use VideoBeast and the Quazar RC2014 SAA sound card - which is certainly ideal for a couple of coding projects I have in mind :)

I'm placing an order for one of the cards over the weekend, and plan to work on some dual SATA sound  experiments via the SAM Coupe RC2014 interface while making my mind up on the ideal system to get.

Thanks for the help so far though!

Certainly hope to have some banging Toons soon :)

Kind regards

David

Based purely on those criteria, then an RC2014 Mini II with a Mini II CP/M Upgrade Kit would tick those boxes. It has a very small footprint, and has one Enhanced RC2014 Bus slot and one Standard RC2014 Bus slot.  Plus it has CP/M with storage on a CF card for all of your banging choons. (Do the cool kids still call them choons?)

If Andy Toone doesn't make a "Toones" sound card he is missing a trick with his MicroBeast :-)

Yes, with the CP/M Upgrade there is 64k of memory available.
