Im pretty pleased with the discussion so far.

It spured me to action.  Yesterday, I followed a YouTube video that showed me really clearly how to obtain HiTec C, convert the archive to a format that my RC2014 can cope with and transfer it.

Without these posts I would have never thought "I wonder how complex it is.. "  without realising that ut is absoloutly trivial.

For me, the most complex part was realising that one of mt SD cards slices wasn't formatted "CLRDIR".

My system is better for it, as even XMODEM even works now.

Hi,

The discussion was compiling the program into a Z80 program to run on a Z80 computer.

So it seems the whole thread has been off topic for this list as these are not RC2014
systems.

And it is with glee that I can do the following;

1. Install the Hi-Tech c compiler
2. Use 'ED' to edit a text document
3. Comping the program, and
4.  Execute it - Watching it print Pi was simply joyous :-)   Something I made, running software that is almost useful.

Wohoo - Thanks for the challenge.

Doug,

I'm pleased at least someone took my suggestions to "learn how to use the compiler" to
heart. I'm sure you will find having a C compiler available to be a useful addition to
your "programmer's tool box".

There is something to be said for watching someone actually carry out an operation rather than just reading the instructions. I could never get XModem transfers to work and have been using the DOWNLOAD method. After watching this it all fell into place. After typing the "xm r filename" I was going  straight to PuTTY file transfer, Xmodem, send etc. I was not entering the CR after the "xm r filename". Couldn't believe it when I saw the YT video. Doh!
Thanks for linking this video(I'm sure the LHA and ARC stuff will come in handy too!)
