I just go my RC2014 Zed Pro finished a day or two ago and have been exploring the system. I noticed that the RAM disks, Drive A:, at least for me, is empty. I thought I'd read that there are supposed to be files there, though most of what CP/M needs is showing on the B: disk, so I'm running fine. Or is something not working the way it should?

Thanks

Hi John, the ram disk is just intended for working/temporary file space. Anything saved on the ram disk will be lost when you turn off the power, next time you turn on the ram disk will be empty again.

This is assuming you didn’t add battery back up voltage for the ram chip.

ok, I thought it was possible there is a script that copies important files. My RAM disk appears to be the A: disk, and several things mentioned that things like the DOWNLOAD.COM and I think other things would be accessible from there. It's entirely possible I read those items incorrectly, of course.

It sounds like you may be seeing stuff about the Grant Searle based version of CP/M which comes with the basic RC2014 hardware.  DOWNLOAD.COM is part of that distribution, but not part of RomWBW.

Thanks, Wayne

Yes, that's what I had read. That makes it all clear.
