I have uploaded to my github page https://github.com/turbo-gecko/Old-Skool/tree/main/C the I2C based LCD driver and demonstration program. It has been written in C and can be compiled using the HiTech C compiler. Instructions are at the github page.
It has been tested with a 2 line 16 character and 4 line 20 character LCD display and uses the I2C.CFG file to store the read and write address for the display.
Enjoy!

Hello Gary,
good job. I thank you very much.
The routines for the LCD display are good to use for my 4-digit LCD display.
I think some people here will use the capabilities with I2C.
Greetings from the Rhine Kurt

Hello gary,
I have changed your program a little to show the possibility of the LCD display with temperature.
I like your programs very much and complement my programming experience.
