I want to create a case (3d printed) to hold my Orton and a battery.  Does anyone know if a layout file is available for the front panel?

Hi Andy,

Sorry, that has been pretty high on my ToDo list for a while, but not done yet. I'll make sure this is available in the next day or two.

It'll be in a similar format to the pdf and svg files on the Front Panel I/O Module page  https://rc2014.co.uk/backplanes/front-panel-kit/front-panel-assembly-guide/

Cheers

Spencer

Hi Andy,

I have updated the Orton 3C page on the RC2014 website with the front panel dimensions. There's a PDF for anybody that wants to print it out and drill holes manually, or an SVG which can be imported in to CAD software https://rc2014.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/RC2014-Orton-C3-Front-Panel-Dimensions.svg_.zip

Cheers

Spencer,

Any chance of a version of the "Orton 3C" artwork from the left hand side of the front
panel please ? You've seen my rendering of the RC2014 and Z80KITS logos on my picoVDU,
and I'm going to add a couple of DtoAs to my 3CX board to drive X/Y inputs on a 'scope, so
I would like to be able to draw the Orton 3C logo.

Hi Peter,

I assume .svg will be best if you're drawing it as a vector. See attachment.

Thanks Spencer, but on my machines that renders in a very boring font. See attachments for
what I get and what I'm hoping for. Have you got some special font installed to render
the logo ?

After a few hours with close up pictures, a pencil and paper and a 1960's computer, I've got it pretty close now !

I actually did the hard work using a Algol-60 programme for the Elliott 803 that I wrote some time ago to draw the TNMOC logo on its plotter.
It takes a simplified version of the data from a .svg file and draws lines and Bezier curves.
If anyone is interested the ALGOL code and the data is on my web site at https://www.peteronion.org.uk/ALGOL/OrtonLogo.utf8

Thanks for the file Spencer
Quick 3d print completed, but with all 16 address leds.
Thanks Peter for the logo above, I'll see if I can add it to my next 3d print.

Yesterday I ran my "lines and curves" Algol-60 programme on the Elliott 803 at TNMOC and
rendered my 3CX logo :-)

It would have looked better if the pen wasn't running out of ink :-(
