Dear PINNACLE Presidents and Secretaries,
We are now starting the mobile cancer screening van which is a District Service Project. The details are as follows.
Purpose:
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in our country. Major reason for death is detection in the late stage of cancer. Screening is a method by which a cancer can be detected in an early stage.
Cancer Screening Van:
There are some cancers for which good screening tests are available.
1. Breast Cancer - Mammography
2. Cervix (Uterus) Cancer - Pap Smear
3. Oral Cavity Cancer - Primary Examination
Reports:
1. Mammography report can be given to the patient at the camp by sending the images to a radiologist via the internet.
2. Pap Smear report can be given to the patient after 2 days as the slides are to be seen by a pathologist.
3. Oral examination is to be done by a dentist.
Club's responsibility:
1. To arrange a suitable venue for the camp.
2. Local publicity so that more patients can take benefit of it.
3. To arrange for internet connection and power supply (15 Amp 2 plugs) at the camp site.
4. Local hospitality for the staff (4 to 5 in number) - food and overnight stay if needed.
Club Expense:
1. To and from diesel expense of the van from Bhavnagar
2. Staff remuneration Approx. Rs 4000/- per day
3. Report expense - Rs 200/- per report for both mammography and Pap smear. Clubs can get the reports done themselves.
4. Food and overnight stay (Separate for male and female) if needed for the staff.
