Voltage Limits for these new Chinese 2.4Ghz products

I have been seeing more and more servos coming out accepting 2S lipos,
but my fear is that most Receivers won't be able to handle the
increase in voltage. I assume this is all about specific specs and
which systems can handle it, and which can't, but can someone comment
on where the limitations are? Is there a regulator on the circuit
board that brings the voltage down to useable level? Is there a risk
of damaging the Rx if I run 2s to it?
