Just bought a brand new Jr 6102 TX ($51 on Ebay) for the purpose of
performing a 2.4Ghz Hack. I figure my choices are Assan, Corona,
Possibly the XPS. I'm leaning towards the Corona since the
Rcmodelreviews Review was good and the RXs are available locally thru
BPhobbies. The Assan hack module has been around a lot longer so I
don't want to rule it out yet.

Any thoughts?

I intend on ripping out the 72mhz rf section entirely, so this will be
a cut and run, hopefully. Unfortunately I haven't seen much info on
this specific conversion, so if you have some links would be
appreciated.

Thanks

The Corona Hack module seems to work well enough and the receivers are
widely available.

Assan is another good option (with the advantage of persistent
failsafe and some new products due from them shortly).

I'm currently looking at doing a DIY article on using the contents of
an FrSky module as the basis for a hack-mod -- that is another option.

Hi Glenn,

Someone has already done that.

Follow the link there it was someone in the UK that was reviewing the
module but did not have a module compatible tx.

Regards,

Rob.

Why go thru the trouble of hacking? These days, people changing from
72Mhz to 2.4G are dumping module transmitters faster than others can
pick them up. You can buy a second hand at a half price or even
less.

Because I can... ;-)

I like my DX7 in the most part except for a few things however I will be installing a hack FrSky into it because I have invested a lot of money into the DSM2 kit. 2 tx's plenty of rx's. I may sell some rx's but by installing a hack module into my dx7 with a switch I can still use the buddy box  setup for people that want to learn. I also at a flick of a switch can use a BNF MSR or I can flick back and use my FrSky on my larger gliders because I trust it better than I trust DSM2 at the moment.

I also have a Tunrniy 9x which I used to play with the module originally, however it is lacking in glider configuration so I will be looking for a 2nd hand radio as well which support gliders better but until then the dx7 will have to do with a hack.

Regards,

Rob.

Because modules leave you with an aerial sticking out of the back of
the transmitter whereas 'hack' units mean you can make the
installation as tidy as you like? I've turned my Futaba module into a
hack by extending the aerial lead into the case and fitting the 2.4
aerial in place of the telescopic one. Noew theirs nothing on the tx
back to snag, and no worry about damage if the tx falls over on it's
back (or no more worry than with any other tx falling over!).

Once the hack module is released I may consider it. However it is a nice
remote for bashing up the slopes. ;-) Just does not do that thing called
crow to well.
