St. Joseph's Day Celebration & A Thank You

March 13, 2012

Head of Christ

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends in Christ:

As promised, here are the TBA details for our St. Joseph's Day Celebration this coming Sunday. Please also read through for an update on the rally for religious liberty (location changes) and a beautiful thank you from one of the consecrated, as well as prayer requests.

Have a great weekend!

In Christ,
Rebecca

Celebrate St. Joseph!

Sunday, March 18th we're getting together on the vigil of the feast of St. Joseph to honor him as protector of the Church, model of fatherhood and patron of our present pope!

Schedule:

  • [4:00 pm:  Mass with Marriage Prep if you desire]

Please rsvp & sign up here:

(Don't be left out! Teams that live too far away are encouraged to plan their own simple get-togethers to honor St. Joseph and ask his intercession.)

Thank you to the DC Section

From one of the consecrated members at Mater Ecclesiae

The section received a beautiful thank-you card for last weekend from the consecrated team in Rhode Island. Unfortunately the effort to scan it wasn't so successful (though you can click here to at least see the signatures ). Be sure, though, to read the lovely testimony one of the Rhode Island team sent and is allowing us to share:

"A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit the shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.  I had many things on my heart to speak with the Lord about that day -personal challenges and the challenges that come with the renewal process we're going through right now in consecrated life in the Movement.

I knelt down and prayed, asking Christ to come into my heart, to make me vulnerable to his grace once again.  As I prayed, the Gospel passage of the sick man at the pools of Bethesda in John 5 came into my mind and heart.

Basically, John is describing an absurd situation.  There's an ill man who longs to be healed by the waters of Bethesda, but he's too sick to even get down into the water, and no one will stop by to help him into the water because they all long to be healed too.  The ill man has been there for 38 years... so close to the healing water, and yet 38 years waiting to be cured!  Absurd! ... until our Lord comes to him.

Jesus knows the deepest desires of this man's heart. "Do you want to be well?" Jesus asks him, reaches out to him, and heals him.

As I was driving to the retreat center this past Friday, I was following behind a red Cadillac for about a half hour on 95; the license plate read: "MyPeace," a sign of what was to come from my weekend there.  I had no idea the Lord would literally take me to Bethesda to heal me. But this time at Bethesda, it was all of you, who made the weekend possible, at the side of the pool, who helped me get into the water...since I couldn't do it by myself...

To all of you in the Bethesda area, thank you for being the hand of Christ for us during this time of renewal."

Rally for Religious Liberty March 23rd

The nationwide rally for religious liberty will be held outside federal building in most states and Washington, DC on Friday, March 23 at noon. The Germantown location has been cancelled, but you can still join outside the HHS building in Washington DC, or at the Front Royal, Baltimore or Ellicott City sites. Click here for info.

Prayer Requests

  • Please pray for Art Petruccelli, husband of Marge (Jane Daly's team), who had a stroke about 10 days ago.
  • Fr. John's cousin in Syracuse, who was in his 50s, passed away last week. RIP.
  • Cathy Shannon's farewell lunch was today. She sends her love and promises we'll be in her prayers daily.
  • Pray for the folks on Marriage Prep this weekend, and all for the speakers. Thanks to illnesses and family conflicts, it's an unusual line-up!
