Top quality, at least vg condition, 27.2, black, with at least 25 mm of setback. I'd like to get my Flite at least  1 cm further rearward on my Roadeo; with the Thompson that came with the bike, it is 3" behind center of bb and that with a rubber mallet on the nose. I'd like 3.5".

As the Cajun chef said when asked what wine pairs best with gumbo, "Watcha got?"

Thanks, Patrick

Thanks for the suggestions and the offers. The SR has more setback than I need, no more than 20 mm or so. I'm pondering two of the suggestions now.

If you don't care about how much bling a post has, and I doubt you do, Ritchey posts are always good, even the low end one like the RL-1 for $36-40. Setback is 25mm. These are sold lots of places, but at TF includes the shipping on this one. https://www.treefortbikes.com/Ritchey-RL-1-2-Bolt-Seatpost-272mm-400mm

I have the Classic 2 bolt post that uses the exact same type of head. Study the pics closely though as it's not a 2 bolt post like you may assume. It's not unlike many single bolt posts that have the arched base for an infinite adjust, but these have double arches and bolts for extra clamping force. It takes just a little conscious effort to orient the washers in correctly and tighten each side in unison. I've never had mine slip.

Oh, I have to confess that bling in this instance is very greatly cared about indeed. This is for the Roadeo, after all, and the seatpost may have to match the egregious extravagance of the CF bottle cages. Still, the VO is nice looking and moderately priced; we’ll see whether financial prudence and stylistic modesty win over financial extravagance and undeniable blingyness.

But yes, know the Ritchey posts; nice and reasonably priced, if reason is your thing.

Seatposts: BTW, aside, PSA, but way back in the pre-tariff days I bought a very nice $80 or so shipped-from-Guangzhou-or-Tianjin titanium seatpost on AliExpress for the Matthews dirt road bike. Well made and very nice for the price, and, besides the moderately blingy titanium looks, provides more comfort flex (esp combined with ti rails of the Flite) than the uber-stiff aluminum post it replaced. Slight but noticeable over stutter bumps.

My wife recently wanted more setback for the saddle on one of her bikes than the existing Ritchey seatpost allowed, so I dug this 27.2 FSA post out of the spares box and used it. Not sure if it's still a current model, as I must have originally bought it about 20 years ago, but it has a lot of setback, and is also two-bolt to allow easy adjustment of the saddle angle.

Velo Orange Gran Cru Long Setback (30mm) seat post. I have two in current use, one silver and one black. Great two bolt saddle adjustment. Good looking (to my eye anyway). The gloss black post  is a real standout.

Those Grand Cru ones are good-looking.

My pick would be a black Nitto S83 for that Roadeo...but only 20mm setback according to Riv's site...don't know if longer setbacks are available, unfortunately. To my eyes they just rule...but if the setback doesn't work for you then it's a moot point...although Retrogression mentions 23mm....and 125.00 with free US shipping...only Silver, though :(

Crust also sells Nitto S65 in black and list its offset  at 30mm...which surprised me at first, but looking at it...makes sense. 88.00

My choice would be a Nitto N-65 post with a stated 30 mm setback in black. Ben’s Cycle in Milwaukee had them listed for about 77.00, and even cheaper with a discount code. My wife likes that setback whereas I’ve never seemed to need it. My preference is about what a vintage Campagnolo Record or Super Record post’s setback is at 25 mm. To get the black look on the SR post to complement black handlebars and stems, I simply painted the post’s flutes black. One can find those old posts for crazy money or at bargain prices too with a little extra labor buffing the post’s scratches out.

Thanks again, all. People brought up all sorts of good possibilities.

I’ve made a choice but since I won’t be paying for it until Monday I’ll keep schtum about it until then to be sure the deal goes through. I will say it’s a very nice one and heavily discounted.
